The Zero Lux is an independent publication focused on investigations, deep OSINT, cybersecurity, politics, emerging technology, UAS, conflict, culture, and whatever else is worth a closer look.

Marching to the tune of our own drum-de-drum-de-drum-drum.

The point is to follow interesting, important, strange, dangerous, or overlooked stories wherever they lead.

Some of that means long form investigations built from public records, archives, databases, network analysis, source verification, and open source intelligence. Some of it means field reporting, commentary, interviews, technology, culture, or the occasional detour into something I simply think is worth talking about.

The site is also becoming a place to show more of the process behind the reporting.

Not just what I found, but how I found it.

That means deeper OSINT work, methodology, tool testing, source preservation, digital research, and breakdowns of how information can be verified, connected, or challenged.

What Supporting Us Means

The easiest reason is simple: new work goes directly to your inbox, and you can follow everything The Zero Lux is doing without depending on a social media algorithm to show it to you.

You can also browse the publication archives, follow ongoing investigations, and take part in the community around the work.

There are paid subscriptions too, but I don’t want The Zero Lux built around constantly trying to force people behind a paywall.

A lot of what I do is rooted in open source intelligence, and I believe important information should remain as open and accessible as reasonably possible.

If you choose to pay, you’re supporting the research, tools, records, travel, infrastructure, and time that make the reporting possible.

You’re supporting the work — not buying the right to know what everyone else can’t.

Disrupting the Industry

This makes the philosophy feel like a natural extension of the publication instead of making the whole About page a manifesto about subscriptions.
